HISTORY

  • On April 12, 1992 - Temple of the Redeemer Apostolic Church held its first service with approximately 15 people in attendance. Within a year in time, our attendance tripled to over 50. Sunday school classes were formed for the various age groups and weekly Bible Studies were being given in homes.
  • By January of 1993 - Individual departments were created for Men, Women, Youth, and Junior High. People were excited about this new church in Mesa, and many in the surrounding area committed their lives to Christ as well as new converts, which were being won for the cause of Christ.
  • In March of 1993 - We became the sole occupants (the building was also being rented to a group of theatre people) of the building and it was proposed to us by Mark Weiss, the owner, to enter into a lease to purchase agreement. In November of 1993 an agreement was drafted and signed.
  • In April of 1996 - The Ministry began Tuesday Leadership Seminars. Our ministry has matured to a level where these seminars would be beneficial not only to our congregation, but also to our community. The results have been overwhelming. The students who attended these sessions have expressed their gratitude for such a class that teaches leadership skills.
  • In July of 1998 - The building next door to the church was made available to us for purchase. This building was ideal for us. Redeemer Books & Gifts was able to move next door and expand to two rooms in the new building. The success of this bookstore cotinues to grow. We also have our administration offices in our new building.
  • In August of 2000 - We expanded our ministry to include a Christian Academy. Thus, Redeemer Christian Academy (RCA) opened its doors. Also included was a preschool for three and four year olds. This preschool was the beginning stages of a vision for a Child Daycare Center where our community will have a safe and loving environment to leave their children.
  • In March 2001 - We had outgrown our sanctuary and were holding two services on Sunday. We needed to find a location with a larger capacity in seating. We found a larger church located at 1718 E. Mesa Dr that was willing to rent their sanctuary to us. We began holding services there while maintaining our school, preschool, and administrative offices at 200/202 E. University locations.
  • In August 2002 - We outgrew that location. We located a much larger church that was willing to rent to us located at 1720 E Broadway Rd. It included Sunday school rooms, a section for a school as well as a daycare center. The sanctuary seating is 525. We quickly grew in membership over 300. Unfortunately, this particular facility was put up for sale and a contract was made with a Sister church.
  • In September 2004 - God opened doors for our congregation to lease a portion of a building which houses Burke Basic Charter School. We are sole occupants of the sanctuary which seats up to 900 people. Also made available to us were five offices, a large conference room as well as a gymnasium. Believing that God was about to do greater things than He had already done in our ministry, and was about to impact many lives,we began to furnish the building with 700 beautiful sanctuary seatinng. We invested in state of the art sound and lighting. In December of 2004, "Jesus, His Life", a drama performed by members of our congregation ran for about three nights. It was estimated that approximately over 700 people attended over a period of three nights.
